Microsoft has released a bundle of 13 patch updates to fix about four dozen security vulnerabilities in Windows and associated software. Adobe has only pushed updates to fox some critical flaws in Flash Player and Adobe Air software and to fox vulnerabilities in Adobe Reader and Acrobat.

Three of Microsoft patches are considered “critical” in that it fixes flaws that can be exploited to break into vulnerable systems with little or no interaction on the user’s part. These particular patches fix at least 30 separate flaws, the majority of which includes the cumulative update for Internet Explorer (MS15-043). Critical patches

Issues addressed in MS15-044 requires special mention as it not only impacts many different Microsoft programs, but also because the holes fixed in this patch can be exploited merely by viewing specially crafted content in a Web page or content.

Adobe’s patches at least 18 security holes for Flash Player and Air.   These updates are available for Windows, OS X and Linux versions of the software. For Mac and Windows users the latest version is 17.0.0.188.

Flash playerYou may download your OS-specific Flash download from this link, https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html. Adobe Flash Player for Google Chrome and Internet Explorer on Windows 8.x should update automatically to the latest version.

Do take note when you download the recent version of Flash from its homepage, disable unwanted add-ons, like McAfee Security Scan.  Uncheck the pre-checked box before downloading it.

Remember to update Adobe Reader, Acrobat or Air, as well, if you are running these programs.
